I just completed a project with my class where my students went out to the football field.
They wrote down the beginning of their throw and end point, say the 10yard line to the 44 yard line.
They measured the height. In the classroom the used x intercepts, foil, adjusted for the negativity of the parabola and the actual height and found the quadratic function for their throw. This is an Algebra 2 project. They create posters and funny stories to go along with their throws. REALLY FUN!!
